When a Swallow Falls...

A female swallow was injured when she was hit by a car
as she swooped low across the road.

Her mate brought her food and attended to her
with love and compassion.

When he brought her food again,
he was saddened to find her dead.

He tried to move her
which was a rarely seen effort for swallows.

Aware that his sweetheart was dead and would never come back to him again,
he cried with adoring love.

He stood beside her,
heartbroken by her death.

Finally, aware that she would never return to him,
he stayed beside her body
chirping out his sadness and sorrow.

You have just witnessed the
love
and
sorrow
felt by all of God's creatures.

The Bible says that God knows even when a tiny sparrow falls.

How much more
He cares for us!

In this new year ~

may you live simply
love generously
care deeply
and
speak kindly.

Grace is God reaching down
Faith is man reaching back.

  2. This is such a touching post. First, I love all God's creatures, I am particularly fond of birds and have had four as pets (I have 2 now). Whoever captured this was a special person. Thanks for sharing this, Laurie. Happy New Year to you, and all good things in 2012.

  15. Hi Laurie,

This brought tears to my eyes. I can never fathom how anyone can be anything but loving to any of the amazing and wonderful animals on our earth. The horrid stories of animal cruelty hurt me so, and we should all be shocked at them and willing to help make things better in any way that we can. Education is key - this story reminds us that every creature on this earth is capable of feeling pain, joy, contentment and love!

Wishing you a Happy and Healthy 2012,

  59. Oh my goodness, what sweet and touching pictures these are! Little bird didn't die alone. Birds really are amazing little creatures. We have a hummingbird that's taken over our deck, he'll fight all the other males away but once in a while he has a girlfriend that he allows to drink from the feeder and sit on our plants:) He's quite the ladies man!

Happy New Year Laurie and here's to a wonderful 2012!!!
