~ playing with clay ~

i hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas
with friends and family!
♥ ~I want to thank you all for your sweet holiday wishes ~ ♥

now that
the carols have been sung
the gifts have been opened
the food's been devoured

and we're all back on our diets...

it's time to get a little crafty

i spent the day after christmas
with my hands
working the silky earthiness of clay

{love the cool, silky feel of it}

making those cute little tags
that we've all seen around blogland lately

i really didn't know what i was doing at the beginning

but after receiving a little guidance from a trio of crafty ladies
(thank you - jami, ness, and sarah!)
i felt i could at least give it a whirl

so after more than one trip to hobby lobby for
clay
cutters
stamps
textures
ink

and other sundry items for future craft projects

{yeah - once i get inside those hobby lobby doors
some unknown creative gene inside of me
gets all martha-stewart-y}

 i squeezed and rolled
cut and stamped
punched and trimmed

and after laying them all out to dry

i did the happy dance

i found a new addiction love...

 i adore making clay tags ♥

i'm playing with the idea of maybe selling them at my friend's antique shop...

we'll see...

until then

i'll just keeping playing with a little clay

and doing a joyful little happy dance

right into the new year

{ new year hugs }

  30. Oohhh I do love these. I really need to try it. I've seen these over at A Beach Cottage. Of course I like that they are white. And and and NO that is not a view from my windows. Oh how I wish it was!!!!! Darling I am 2 hrs away from the seashore. My view is of wetlands. Which is better than the back window of a neighbor! The sofa and aqua dish of sanddollars is my home, my cottage. I've been busy taking care of a sick hubby and applying for more jobs. I did get some emails back from a private school today for the pre-school dept. and the H.S Art Academy. I would love to work with the wee ones. Keep me in your prayers. love to you sweetie. ox`fairmaiden

  31. Oh Laurie,
    These tags are so cute, you're good at it too! Love the sayings and think they would be great potting tags too with herbs names too.

    Have a fun/safe New Year's Eve waiting for the ball to drop (I love Dick Clark) and spending time w/your beautiful animals... you know, we're pretty much doing the same, wouldn't have it any other way!
    All the best for 2011 sweetheart.

  40. Thanks for your ever sweet comments Laurie. I've enjoyed getting to know you this year and am really inspired by your blog.

    The first two stocking I made one with linen that I added a rossette to and the other with an old feedsack with numbers stamped on it. The brown one I bought at Taget a couple years ago and just added some lace.

    Wishing you the best in 2011.

    They turned out SO lovely! I adore all of the different styles you made, my sweet. Did you hand paint (fill in) those with black lettering? Love 'em. You should definitely sell them in your friend's antique shop. Happy you're ringing in the New Year, joyfully making your little clay tags. (And, you're welcome...saw the little thank you.)

    On another note, words cannot express how happy your email last night made me. You are so thoughtful and sweet and I'm happy to have met you in 2010. Looking forward to another year!
