Oh So French!

Lovely morning to you, my bloggerettes!

Remember my guest bedroom
with the Simply Shabby Chic bedspread that I love so much?
That beautiful dusty blue duvet with pink peonies on it?
Sweet and delicious...

Well, it was time for a change.  A late summery change.
A change that I've been wistfully longing for for a quite a while.
A change for the better.
A change for the whiter and cleaner and fresher and simpler.
A little more mature.  A little more French.

Want to take a peek at what I see now as I step up on the last stair on the second floor of Heaven's Walk?

(And don't get me going on that awful stained trim.
As you know, if I had my druthers, it would painted white...)

Ahhhh.....a new cool, white linen duvet cover and shams.

I recently bought it for a song at Pottery Barn. It was The Sale I was waiting for.
It's incredibly substantial, but oh so soft.  I can see this becoming a treasured vintage item that I'll be able to hand down to someone in my family someday.
Remember the old side table?

It was replaced with my treasured new vintage side table.
(Remember the one I nabbed at my frizzy-hair-day flea market recently?)
It was slathered with a creamy white coat of my trusty BM 'Ivory Tusk'.

I ended up spray painting the pull on it (which was pretty ugly) with Krylon black enamel.

Oh, and you see where my other sweet little Lettered Threads 'Reve' pillow is now sleeping?
Snuggled up against a PB striped pillow sham.

Seriously yummy.

Cool.
Calm.
Fresh.
Airy.
Crisp.
And a little vintage coastal French, oui?
Happy White Wednesday to you!
See you over at Faded Charm!
You can mosey right over there from here.

{Hugs!} and sweet dreams!

(Oh, and before I go, where does one lavender-crazy gal go
to buy some big, luscious bunches of dried lavender?)

  3. Good Morning Sweet Laurie!
You did a wonderful job on the makeover. I thought it was pretty before too...but I am loving this change. What are you gonna do with that Shabby Chic comforter....please tell me you will stash it away to haul out when you need a change again. I always loved that particular SChic pattern.

Sigh...now I can truly envision where I am going to sleep when I come to visit. If MyHero had not dug up my lavender and rosemary because he thought they were WEEDS I could have sent you a big ole bunch of lavender. Sadly, I have none. Did you know that lavender grows beautifully in WI & MI? If you are interested I will e-mail you the "recipe" for enhancing the ground to make these things grow like weeds. Hugs to you my sweet friend. I think you will be getting the storms later that are passing through today. Awful~ Hot and humid once again. xxoo Diana

I'm so glad you liked my old clock remake. I love silhouetters, so I knew the minute I saw it, I could do something fun with it and use it for that. I LOVE the bubble glass that was in it! I'm a sucker for all kinds of clear glass...bubble, seeded, ribbed, wavy...you name it, I love it!

  25. I love it! White and espresso brown look so good together. You know that Shabby Chic bedding you love(the before) I have that same print in a shower curtain. No longer hanging because I needed a change for simplier/plainer. But I will never get rid of my R.A shabbies...they will all be piled beautifully in an amoire someday.
