Once upon a time, two people met and fell in love.
They took every smile and every tear,
a few differences of opinion,
some major triumphs,
and several minor miracles,
and turned them into
something very beautiful...
They loved what they made together.
Let me tell you about this wonderful man I married.
He's a snowplower on the coldest of mornings,
who tolerates the snow...as much as his wife hates it.
A strong and handsome lumberjack...
who patiently waits while his picky wife chooses the perfect Christmas tree.
He's the Pit Crew Chief for a snowmobile team...
And a farm boy raising vegetables in his organic garden...
who loves to grill, cook, and bake.
(And yes, I'll be the first to admit that I'm spoiled.)
My hubby is a self-taught brick layer...
who loves all creatures, big and small...
as much as his wife adores her 'kids'.
He's a devoted grandfather...
who is always ready to give wild rides on his golf cart.
He can fix anything with a motor in it...
but isn't always the best role model according to Grandma.
So he's sometimes sent to the crate for a "time out".
He's a godfather who proudly wore the hat of Master of Ceremonies
at his goddaughter and godson's weddings...but was so exhausted when he got home, he had to take a nap with Toby.
The fish call to him wherever there's water...
but he can't wait to kick back with a Rolling Rock on his favorite island.
A loyal chauffeur to his beach-crazed wife...
who loves hanging out with him in the sun...
until her feet are toasty brown....
and his are burnt to a crisp.
We lift our glasses in celebration...
(and we'll even share a piece of our favorite key lime pie with you...)
as we are grateful and feel blessed for 26 years of married life,
and look forward to 26+ years more.
To the friend I want, and the husband I need and love...
Happy Anniversary, honey -
I love you.

Happy Anniversary! From what I have seen, it is not easy to have such a successful marriage after 26 years so congratulations! Thanks for sharing your pictures and thoughts. It is nice to see good examples.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you and your husband, Laurie!! I love your sweet tribute to your husband. It sounds like you two have a truly happy and full life together. That picture of your husband in the doghouse cracked me up, btw (LOL)! You two make an adorable couple! Thanks for sharing a little bit of your life with us... loved it!

P.S. My roses are called Heritage rose from David Austin (they came in the mail :)). My camera is a Kodak EasyShare C743. It's not the best camera (or I'm not the best photographyer, LOL). It takes wonderful close-ups, but I struggle with distance or nighttime photos. I really want to get a new camera, too. :)
Okay-First off-I am at work so this won't be too long...
ReplyDeleteSeriously!!!! We can no longer be friends...you are WAAAYY too cute to have been married 26 years! And...I dunno but I think standing next to you would not be good for MY ego! lol
I just knew that you were as pretty outside as you are on the inside. And...I can tell that you adore your hubby (good days AND bad days-Hey! He's a man-right?-yeah...some days they just don't "get it").
Okay-I have to go now even though there's about 50 things I still want to say...so maybe I'll email you later)...this working just plain sucks some days! yeah...I said it..xxxooo Diana
Laurie - What an absolutely beautiful tribute to your wonderful husband. Thank you for a glimpse into your blessed life.

okay-Popping back in to say Happy Anniversary-cuz I got so carried away with the nonsense before that I forgot to say that! Is it actually today? Ours is the 16th! We are sneaking away for the day-right after an 8:30am appointment! My greatest hope for you, my dear sweet friend, is that your life continues to be filled with hope, blessings and much love. From me to you-xxoo Diana

ReplyDeleteGREAT pics of both of you!

Happy Anniversary! You look way to young to have been married 26 years. I laughed when I saw your husband out in the yard with his shirt off. Not because he looked funny, but because mine always does the same thing. We live on a cul-de-sac though :-) My neighbor likes to joke that all the boys in our family love to go out shirtless. Congratulations, you're a beautiful couple!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Marcia
